Hi All,
It’s been a while since I’ve posted any news, but it has been a fun filled and busy few months. We packed our bags and headed off to the UK and France for a month in May/June before heading home for a couple of weeks. It was then off again for a slightly shorter trip to the Cook Islands for 2 weeks for our wedding and some relaxing time in the sun.
Foaling isn’t too far off with the first Shambala mares due around the 20th August - so keep your eye open for pics and news! Sycamore Street likes to suprise us each year with an early arrival, so don’t be suprised if we have a little one early in August!
Happy Trails
Rebecca

Congrats to Donna of The Rock, NSW on her purchase of Shambala Sunset Cocktails, aka Tyke. Tyke is one of those youngsters that we really struggled to let go. Having been born very prem, he required a lot of attention as a newborn, and Mike in particular formed quite a bond with him. It was tough to see him go this afternoon, but we are happy in the knowledge that he has found a wonderful home with Donna and her family!

Just a quick note to congratulate Kim on her purchase of Shambala Coco Pops. Pops is a 2003 chestnut overo gelding by Shambala Top Hat N Tails out of Shambala Coco. Kim also owns a full brother to Pops, a 2004 chestnut overo gelding, Shambala Wrangler (aka Yogi) and she couldn’t resist the opportunity of owning a pair of them! Keep an eye open as a there are a few more movements in the wings as other Shambala gems move on to new homes.

MSQ Apollo competed in his first Horse Trials on the weekend at Bacchus Marsh Pony Club. His inclusion was a last minute thing as another of our horses set to compete injured himself and was unable to go, so Apollo stood up and had a go finishing 4th in the dressage of 22 riders with only 16 penalty points. The showjumping was a breeze with no time or jumping penalties. Cross country was going to be his biggest challenge with the uphill runs at Bacchus Marsh likely to present a problem considering the current size of Apollo’s rear end (too much Christmas cheer!). He did his best and with only one refusal at a bright blue jump which had been causing trouble for riders all day, and no time penalties, Apollo finished 4th overall! Not bad for his first attempt!

Shambala Park Paint Stud would like to welcome a new member to the team. At 11 weeks old, Jed, the blonde border collie pup is just too cute for words.

Congratulations to Kelley of Ebenezer, QLD on her purchase of Shambala Top Hat N Tails. I’m sure any of you who have been visiting us for a while will appreciate the enormous contribution this stallion has made to our stud. He has been an absolute delight to own and will be sadly missed. We wish Kelley all the very best with him.

Things have been busy here (so, what’s new?) the last couple of weeks with the arrival of new foals, the departure of some old favorites to new homes and the hussle and bustle of stud duties. I can’t wait until the breeding season is over at the moment!
In other news, MSQ Switch The Duco has been named PHAA Eventing Horse of the Year 2006/07 alongside Hillbilly Shine. Switch The Duco only started her eventing career in mid July 2007 giving her only a couple of weeks of the Honour Roll year to earn her title. We couldn’t be happier with her!

Yesterday afternoon saw the vet come out to preg test all of our 2007/2008 broodmares served by our paint stallion, Shambala Top Hat N Tails. As usual, Top Hat, is doing the most outstanding job and 4 of 5 mares were confirmed in foal after only one service. The only mare to prove not in foal is our beautiful palomino mare, Shambala Rose. Rose has over the years proved rather difficult to breed so we were not suprised.
The four mares confirmed in foal - Shambala Zing, Sycamore Street, Supreme Miss and Spotlights are all proven broodmares and are all due to foal within 4 days of each other in mid-August 2008. It will be great to have them all foaled down before spring!
The lovely Witherwings that we are standing at stud for Ribblesdale is also proving his worth with his first four mares all confirmed in foal. He has 5 more mares due to be preg tested in the next seven days, so with a bit of luck, they will all be done too!
